Diversified Benefits Management is owned by David Walrod, and the firm takes prides in developing creative solutions that allow clients to save money when providing health care for their employees. As president, Dave has seen health care from all angles, giving him a unique understanding of the industry.
As Executive Vice President – Chief Operating Officer for Seaway Food Town he chaired multiple Taft Hartley Health Care funds For Toledo, Columbus, Dayton and Cincinnati. The focus was not to reduce cost by increasing co-pays and deductibles on the employee but to create plans that maximize provider discount. After leaving Food Town, Dave became Chairman of a large Third Party Administration firm that had clients in many Midwest states. In this capacity, he worked with various companies on plan design and network management to reduce cost again by maximizing discounts. That firm was sold to a much larger TPA.
Dave also was on the parent board of Mercy Health Care Partners, serving on the Executive Committee where he chaired Managed Care and Business Development. This was a great learning experience as he was able to see health care from the provider perspective. While at the hospital, he chaired a taskforce that developed a health care network for the system.
Diversified Benefits Management was formed in 2006 and deals with individual clients and large firms. The last client that hired DBM saw saving of over 30% on the cost of health care, a more typical savings for large clients is 20% to 23% using no hospital network, the employee can go to any hospital that may specialize in treating their condition and has shown better out-comes. We feel this is extremely important.
Dave graduated from college here in Toledo and then went to Harvard for an executive course in labor law and the Wharton for and executive course in finance.
